Public Performance Licenses for Videos in Schools
The following links are for two companies that Technology Services has worked with in the past.
Canadian Copyright Act allows teachers to use video for educational purposes in their classroom without obtaining a license.
For any other non-educational use of video, the school is responsible to seek an appropriate license from the companies below.
These lists are not approved lists of video learning resources, only a list of studios/production houses you can obtain license to show films for non-educational purposes from.
Schools and teachers should be able to report on film usage as it could be audited (similar to CanCopy audits). The licensing houses ask for monthly reports; however, historically we have not provided them.
